Billiards And Snooker

The UAE Billiards and Snooker Federation, initially recognized in 1988 as the Emirates Billiards and Snooker Association, has grown significantly over the years. The organization gained official recognition from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and became a member of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports in 1990 and the International Billiards and Snooker Federation in 1991. Its expansion continued with membership in the GCC Organizing Committee for Billiards and Snooker in 1992, the Arab Billiards and Snooker Federation in 2000, and the West Asian Billiards and Snooker Federation in 2010.

A significant milestone came with the name change to the UAE Billiards and Snooker Federation in 2003, with another anticipated change in 2024 reflecting its evolving role and aspirations. The Federation aims to organize high-profile tournaments, enhance player skills through structured training, promote billiards and snooker nationwide, and ensure a strong international presence for the UAE in global competitions.

The Establishment History

1988

The Emirates Billiards and Snooker Association was officially recognized by a decision from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports – General Secretariat of the United Arab Emirates.

1990

The Federation officially joined the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports, marking a significant step in its development and commitment to the sport on a regional level.

1991

The Federation officially became a member of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation, strengthening its ties to the global billiards community and enhancing its role in international competitions.

1992

The Federation became a member of the GCC Organizing Committee for Billiards and Snooker, promoting regional collaboration and advancing billiards and snooker events across the GCC.

2000

The Federation officially became a member of the Arab Billiards and Snooker Federation, fostering collaboration with Arab nations and contributing to the growth and development of billiards and snooker in the region.

2003

The name of the Emirates Billiards and Snooker Association was changed to the UAE Billiards and Snooker Federation by a decision of the Chairman of the General Authority for Youth and Sports, Resolution No. 89 of 2003.

2010

The Federation officially became a member of the West Asian Billiards and Snooker Federation, enhancing regional ties and actively contributing to the development and promotion of billiards and snooker across West Asia.

2024

The name of the Federation was changed to the UAE Billiards Games Federation by a decision from the Minister of the General Authority for Sports, Resolution No. — of 2024.
